Apropos of its subject matter, the “Evil Dead” franchise first launched by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell refuses to stay buried. Starz’s TV show based on the horror/comedy films is set to return for its second season this fall, an event being hyped by the network with a red-band trailer it claims was “too gory” for San Diego Comic-Con. The new spot for “Ash vs Evil Dead” first premiered on Twitter via Kid Cudi because it’s 2016 and weird things like that happen all the time now.
The trailer begins with a beachside party in Jacksonville interrupted by a hole in the sky loosing evil upon the world; this, naturally, leads Campbell’s Ash back to his hometown in Michigan. Blood spatter, demonic beasts and pithy one-liners abound.
“Ash vs Evil Dead” first premiered on Halloween last year. Its second season, which will also consist of 10 episodes, is set to begin in October.
