Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Posts Instagram Photo from ‘Fast 8’ Set Showing His Character in Prison

F. Gary Gray's take on the long-running franchise arrives next April.

The “Fast and Furious” franchise continues to move ahead without original star Paul Walker, who died before the release of last year’s “Furious Seven.” As such, former supporting characters are now moving to the fore — including, by the looks of it, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Hobbs.

The actor posted an Instagram photo from the set of the film with the caption “The Iceman cometh. And don’t fucketh around” followed by several hashtags, including #OrangeAintTheNewBlack. Whether his character, a police officer, got in trouble for using a minigun at the end of the last film or is perhaps going undercover remains to be seen.

The franchise’s increasingly vast ensemble also includes Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Lucas Black, Kurt Russell, Jason Statham, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, Kristofer Hivju and Helen Mirren; they’re being directed by “Straight Outta Compton” helmer F. Gary Gray. “Fast 8” is set to be released on April 14, 2017.
