Leonard Nimoy passed away on February 27, 2015 at the age of 83. The “Star Trek” legend, known for creating the mixed alien and human outsider, Spock, in the 1966 “Star Trek” television series, will never be forgotten. Now, thanks to a new heartfelt documentary, “For The Love of Spock,” created by his son, Adam Nimoy, his legacy lives on. Gravitas Ventures has released the first trailer that you can check out below.
The doc tells the life of the famous Vulcan and Nimoy, who portrayed him for nearly fifty years. The idea for the film began as a celebration of the fifty-year anniversary of “Star Trek: The Original Series,” but after Leonard passed away, his son was ready to tell another story: his personal experience growing up with Leonard and Spock.
Adam, who serves as the project’s director and screenwriter, shares details on the creation, evolution and universal impact of Spock, as well as the ups and downs of being the son of a TV icon. The documentary includes never-before-seen footage and interviews of friends, family and colleagues that include William Shatner and the original “Star Trek” cast, Zachary Quinto, who has taken the reigns as the new Spock, J.J. Abrams, Neil deGrasse Tyson, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldaña, Jim Parsons and Jason Alexander.
