‘The Flash’: ‘Dope’ Star Kiersey Clemons Cast Opposite Ezra Miller in Rick Famuyiwa’s Superhero Adaptation

The actress will likely play Iris West.

Ezra Miller just got a dope new co-star. Kiersey Clemons, who played one of the leads in Rick Famuyiwa’s Sundance hit “Dope,” has been cast alongside the superhero-in-waiting in “The Flash.” The news was broken by Variety‘s Justin Kroll, who also notes that Clemons will likely be portraying the intrepid reporter Iris West.

Clemons also appeared in this summer’s “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” and has been cast in the upcoming remake of “Flatliners.” Original “Flash” director Seth Grahame-Smith dropped out of the project last month due to creative differences and was replaced by none other than “Dope” helmer Famuyiwa himself, whose film provided Clemons with her breakout role.

“The Flash” is part of the fledgling DC Extended Universe, an in-progress “Avengers” equivalent starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Miller as The Flash. Famuyiwa’s standalone film about the fast-moving superhero is set to be released on March 16, 2018.
