Noted professional-wrestling fan, screenwriter and director Max Landis is at Comic-Con, where he’s revealed one of many new projects he’s working on: a Pepé Le Pew movie being developed by Warner Bros. The animated film will follow the lecherous skunk of “Looney Tunes” fame, whom conventional wisdom would suggest is among the cartoon characters least suited to a feature-length revival in 2016. That’s probably part of Landis’ angle.
Landis, who appeared on the panel for “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” — a BBC America series for which he’s lead writer and an executive producer — is also executive-producing “Channel Zero” for Syfy and writing both “Bright” for Netflix and “Deeper” for MGM.
After first coming to fame for penning “Chronicle,” Landis has been on screenplay duties for several more movies (including “American Ultra”) and made his directorial debut with “Me Him Her.” He has also made two popular YouTube videos: “Wrestling Isn’t Wrestling” and a pitch for his “Death and Return of Superman” idea.
