Now that “Swiss Army Man” has considerably raised the collective cachet of Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert (known together as Daniels), one of their earlier works is being brought to greater attention. “Possibilia” first premiered at Tribeca in 2014 before being spotlighted as part of Sundance’s New Frontiers the next year, and now the “interactive love story set in the multiverse” is set to be released online. Watch its trailer below.
Alex Karpovsky (“Girls,” “Red Flag,” “Hail Caesar!”) and Zoe Jarman (“The Office,” “Modern Family”) star as a couple on the verge of breaking up. Per the official synopsis, “the viewer is able to slide between these possible outcomes even as they multiply, following the couple in the kitchen or the living room, in a raucous fight or tender embrace. Eventually the storyline fragments into 16 overlapping scenes before collapsing in on itself, resulting in a film that’s unique for every individual each time it’s watched.”
“Comet,” directed by “Mr. Robot” creator Sam Esmail and starring Justin Long alongside Emmy Rossum, was a similar (if not interactive) venture. “Possibilia” will be available online courtesy of Eko and PRETTYBIRD on August 3.
