“The Dwarvenaut” follows Stefan Pokorny, a classically-trained artist and entrepreneur based out of Brooklyn who is obsessed with the popular tabletop game “Dungeons & Dragons.” Weaving together stories of his troubled childhood with his modern exploits with playing the game create an indelible portrait of a curious mind at work. Stefan has also built some of the best, most elaborate “Dungeons & Dragons” terrains ever, and some call him one of the best “Dungeon” sculptors of all time.
Now, with the help of his many devotees, he’s on a quest to bring his most ambitious miniature sculpture project to life through the help of Kickstarter. Though it may seem like just a game to you, Stefan thinks that these kind of role playing game have the potential to unify people and change the world. Watch the trailer for the film below.
Writer/Director Josh Bishop (“Made In Japan”) has this to say about Stefan: “When I first met Stefan Pokorny I saw one of the most unique humans I’d ever met and immediately realized I was being given an incredible opportunity. I set out to make a film that would be as special as the man is himself and with the help of an incredibly talented crew I feel we have achieved just that. I am thrilled to have Filmbuff as the newest member of ‘The Dwarvenaut’ family and am excited they are helping us get Stefan’s story in front of the world.”
“The Dwarvenaut” premiered at this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival. It will be released on iTunes and other VOD platforms (including Amazon Instant, Google Play, Vudu, and XBox Video) on August 5.
