Since Aaron Paul’s breakout role in “Breaking Bad,” the Emmy Award-winning actor has ventured into developing his own projects. He currently stars and is a producer on the Hulu series “The Path” and is the voice of Todd Chavez on “BoJack Horseman,” on which he is also an executive producer.
His latest project he is developing is “Blackmail,” a one-hour drama script that has just been sold to NBC through Universal Television. Paul will produce the thriller via his Lucid Road banner alongside John and Thomas Sonntag, who will also pen the script.
The potential series will follow a young married couple who after suffering a life-changing accident, decide to get back at the man responsible by threatening to reveal his infidelity to his fiancee. But when things turn out to be more sinister than the couple originally thought, a dark game of cat-and-mouse sets them on the path to knowing what it means to be a real-life power couple.
This marks the Sonntag’s first television sale, who also recently sold their film “Warden” to New Line and are developing their project “CTRL” with Amy Baer’s Gidden Media.
As for Paul, his production company also has “The Street” setup at AMC, with Gran Via and ITV and several other projects at Universal TV. The actor can next be seen on the big screen alongside Jamie Dornan in the thriller “The 9th Life of Louis Drax,” out September 2.
