Jimmy Fallon will be hosting the Golden Globes this year, NBC’s Bob Greenblatt announced Tuesday morning at the TCA Press Tour, inheriting the mantle from recent hosts Ricky Gervais and (the incredible) Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

“We’re thrilled to announce Jimmy as host of ‘The 74th Annual Golden Globes,’” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt in a statement. “This is the most spontaneous and uninhibited award show on television, and Jimmy’s playful, disarming comedic brilliance makes him the ideal host to enhance and elevate the sense of fun and irreverence that’s made the Golden Globes one of the premier events of the entire broadcast year.”

Fallon previously hosted the 2010 Emmy Awards, and “The Tonight Show” is currently nominated for two Emmys this year. Based on past experience, we can look forward to a mix of music and comedy as a result of him taking on the gig — and also an opening monologue without the same level of jabs that Gervais, Fey and Poehler brought to the festivities.

After the announcement, Fallon tweeted:

Check out Fallon’s Springsteen-inspired Emmys opener below. The 2017 Golden Globes will air Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017 from 8-11pm ET/5-8pm PT.
