Though the harshest critics of video games claim that they have no real-life value, sometimes they can come in handy. The new British thriller “Level Up” innately understands how those skills might be put to good use in a terrifying situation. The film follows Matt (Josh Bowman) and Anna (Leila Mimmack), a young couple living in London whose relationship is on the rocks. While Anna is starting her career, Matt struggles to find purpose in life, spending most of his time playing video games. One morning, masked thugs break into his apartment and kidnap Anna, but not before locking Matt into a mysterious vest. Now, Matt must follow a series of complicated, dangerous instructions to deliver a package somewhere on the streets of London in order to save his girlfriend. The film is the feature-length debut by Adam Randall. He previously directed three short films: “Hooded,” “Easier Ways To Make a Living,” “Reflections.” Meanwhile, Josh Bowman stars as Daniel Grayson in the ABC drama “Revenge”; he also had a recurring role on the ABC family series “Make It or Break It” and the British medical drama “Holby City.”
“Level Up” will be released in theaters on August 26th by Film Buff.
