Gotham Independent Film Awards 2016: Amy Adams And Ethan Hawke To Receive Actor Tributes

Oliver Stone will receive the Director Tribute.

The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) announced today that Ethan Hawke and Amy Adams will be presented with Actor and Actress Tributes, and Oliver Stone will receive the Director Tribute at the 2016 IFP Gotham Independent Film Awards. The awards will take place on Monday, November 28th at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

“We are honored to have Amy Adams, Ethan Hawke, and Oliver Stone as our Actress, Actor, and Director Tribute honorees at this year’s Gotham Awards,” said Joana Vicente, Executive Director of IFP and the Made in NY Media Center. “Each with a remarkable body of work that continues to challenge, thrill, and inspire audiences, we are proud to celebrate their numerous artistic achievements and honor their contributions to the landscape of cinema with these Tributes.”

Amy Adams has been nominated for five Oscars for her performances in “Junebug,” “Doubt,” “The Fighter,” “The Master,” and most recently, “American Hustle.” She has won two Golden Globes for her performances in “American Hustle” and “Big Eyes.” She will be seen in two new films this fall: Denis Villeneuve’s “Arrival” and Tom Ford’s “Nocturnal Animals.”

Ethan Hawke has been nominated for four Oscars, two for his performances in “Training Day” and “Boyhood,” and two for writing for “Before Sunset” and “Before Midnight.” He was also nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in “Boyhood.” He will be seen in Antoine Fuqua’s remake of “The Magnificent Seven,” will be released on September 23rd.

Oliver Stone is best known for his numerous acclaimed films in his 30-year career. He has won three Oscars, two for directing “Platoon” and “Born on the Fourth of July,” and won for writing “Midnight Express.” His next film “Snowden,” starring Joseph Gordon Levitt, will be released on September 15th.

Submissions are now being accepted in eight of ten competitive categories. Online applications, along with full criteria, are available at the Gotham website. The deadline for submissions is September 15th. Nominees will be announced on October 20th and winners will be honored at the main event on November 28th.
