HuffPost RYOT today announced the launch of the first virtual reality comedy series, “Virtually Mike & Nora,” and the first virtual reality world news show, “The Big Picture: News in Virtual Reality,” both to premiere this fall on the Hulu VR app.
“Virtually Mike & Nora” is a sketch comedy series co-created, written and directed by Nora Kirkpatrick (“The Office”) and Mike O’Brien (“SNL”). “The Big Picture” will be hosted by Oscar-nominated filmmaker and HuffPost RYOT co-founder Bryn Mooser, and will feature HuffPost RYOT journalists exploring the key issues to create an immersive way to experience the news. The inaugural season of “Virtually Mike and Nora” will have five episodes & “The Big Picture: News in Virtual Reality” will premiere as a 10-part show.
“We’re so excited to partner with Hulu on the first-ever global news show and first-ever comedy series in virtual reality,” said Mooser. “Virtual reality has an extraordinary power to bring you inside the story and, given their passion for innovation and storytelling, Hulu is the perfect partner to bring these stories to life.”
“This partnership with HuffPost RYOT helps us continue to grow our premium VR offerings and bring our viewers the first news and comedy experiences in virtual reality,” said Noah Heller, Hulu’s VP of Emerging Technology.
The Hulu VR app is available for Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR headsets (plus supported Samsung mobile devices) with additional platforms to come soon.
