To prepare himself for his role in “Snowden,” Joseph Gordon-Levitt met and studied Edward Snowden’s personality and traits. Though, during his time on the production, the actor also made sure to spend time with the film’s director, Oliver Stone, to get to know him better. Speaking with Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show,” Gordon-Levitt revealed that he “got stoned” with the filmmaker off-set and bonded by talking war films.
“We watched a movie together, a great war movie actually,” Joseph told Colbert. “The first time Oliver and I got stoned together we were talking about war stories. I asked him about Vietnam and he started telling me about it and then we started talking about war movies.”
Apparently Stone wasn’t the only person he smoked with as Gordon-Levitt also revealed who had the best weed on set.
“There was a guy on set his name was Ralph, who was sort of our technical consultant. He actually used to be a hacker, he’s an extremely sophisticated hacker but now he works sort of on the other side,” he told the late night host explaining that Ralph’s job was to ensure that the footage being shot was not hacked. “Here’s the funny thing though, to tie it all back in, Ralph also happened to have the best weed.”
