It’s been well over a year since “Mad Max: Fury Road” stormed theaters, and yet we still find ourselves completely dazzled every time a new set video appears online or the entire feature pops up on television.
Currently making the rounds is some seriously epic footage from the film’s Namibia production that shows all the adrenaline-fueled mayhem that took place before CGI and color correction was added to create the finished product. The result is some insane practical effects that will truly blow your mind.
“Mad Max: Fury Road” was the Cinderella story of last year’s Oscar season. After sitting in development hell for years and enduring a tumultuous production (all those rumors about Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron hating each other on set were pretty much true), George Miller unleashed his vision to some of the year’s most deafening critical acclaim. The film appeared on numerous end-of-the-year lists and earned 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. It ended up dominating the below-the-line categories and winning six awards.
As we wait to see if Miller will return with any future installments in the “Mad Max” series, watch the video below to see just how crazy all the car chases and stunt work really was on set. “Mad Max: Fury Road” is now on DVD and Blu-ray and can be streamed on HBO Now.
