For fans of “Doctor Who,” this year’s annual Christmas Special is poised to be very special one indeed, as the beloved BBC America series hasn’t aired a new episode since last year‘s Christmas Special. This year’s holiday ep will hopefully be a more cheerful entry, too, as the 2015 edition of the annual special was all about Peter Capaldi’s The Doctor mourning the death of his companion Clara (Jenna Coleman), not a very perky theme for a generally fun ep.
In anticipation of this year’s Special, the “Doctor Who” team took to New York Comic-Con to share a little sneak peek at the new episode, which will notably feature Justin Chatwin as a brand new hero, reportedly partially inspired by Superman (well, just take a look at his get-up below, the parallels certainly seem to be there).

The new Special will also feature the return of Matt Lucas, who popped up in last year’s entry as well. And, based on our first behind-the-scenes look at the episode, everyone seems to be in great spirits. No more mourning here, you guys!
