Michael Shannon and Imogen Poots have a sizzling chemistry in Matthew Ross’ directorial debut “Frank & Lola.” The alluring, romantic noir turned psychosexual drama tells the tale of love, obsession, betrayal, revenge and redemption.
Set in Las Vegas and Paris, Shannon stars as Frank, an up-and-coming chef who falls for Lola (Poots), an aspiring fashion designer. The two meet at defining moments in their life and began a passionate relationship — seemingly everything Frank has always wanted. His happiness is short-lived when a man from Lola’s past returns, forcing him to question everything about her. Michael Nyqvist, Justin Long, Emmanuelle Devos, Rosanna Arquette co-star.
The thriller premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and became one of the hottest titles there. Shortly after, Universal picked up a majority of worldwide distribution rights.
Shannon can next be seen in “Loving,” out November 4, and in Tom Ford’s “Nocturnal Animals,” set to be released on December 9. He will also star in “Horse Soldiers” opposite Chris Hemsworth and “The Current War” with Benedict Cumberbatch and Nicholas Hoult.
Poots was last seen in the short-lived Cameron Crowe series “Roadies” and has a number of films in the works including “Sweet Virginia,” “The Sleeping Shepherd” and “I Kill Giants.”
“Frank & Lola” will be released in limited theaters via Paladin on December 9, with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment debuting the film on digital HD and on demand that same day.
