Amaru is one scary mamma jamma. That much was made clear in an especially creepy episode of “From Dusk Till Dawn” this week, when the shape-shifting baddie took Texas by storm. Based in part on Mesoamerican mythology, the man-hating demon certainly won’t be leaving our memories anytime soon.
Screaming and slicing her way through our heroes, Amaru turned Episode 7 into a “classic ghost story” according to Carlos Coto, an executive producer and writer for “From Dusk Till Dawn.” He explains the origins and production design of the character in a new exclusive behind-the-scenes feature below.
“From Dusk till Dawn: The Series” first premiered on El Rey in March 2014. The series centers around Seth and Richie Gecko (D.J. Cotrona and Zane Holtz), two outlaw brothers who head for Mexico after a bank robbery leaves several people dead. Season 3 plays out with the Gecko brothers being “thrust into a fight against the forces of hell,” while “the Geckos assemble an unlikely crew to take on the new enemies determined to take them down.”
