‘Gilmore Girls’: Coffee Shops Nationwide Will Become Luke’s Diner to Celebrate Show’s Return

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” doesn’t hit Netflix until the end of next month, but Rory and Lorelai partisans can celebrate the 16th anniversary of the show’s first episode tomorrow as Netflix transforms some 200 cafes and coffee shops across the country into Luke’s Diner, one of the show’s most well-known locations.

The move follows a similarly coffee-themed poster for the long-awaited revival that was released on National Coffee Day. Each pop-up location will be open from 7 a.m. until noon, and the first 200 visitors to each will receive a free 12-ounce bag of coffee along with other “Gilmore Girls”–specific surprises. “Gilmore Girls” originally ran from 2000 to 2007, airing 153 episodes across seven seasons. “A Year in the Life” will consist of four 90-minute episodes, each covering one season in the fictional town of Stars Hollow.
