“House of Cards” is going to get fuller in its next batch of episodes. The Hollywood Reporter has the news that Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott will be joining the fifth season of Netflix’s cutthroat political drama, whose over-the-top storylines have at times been eclipsed by the realities of our current presidential election.
No details have been given regarding the nature of their roles, though both performers are expected to feature prominently. Clarkson, an Oscar nominee for “Pieces of April,” previously appeared on “Six Feet Under” (and received two Emmys for her efforts); Scott’s TV work includes “Royal Pans” and “Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.”
“House of Cards,” which has aired 52 episodes across its first four seasons, stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. Season five has not been given a release date yet, but in previous years new episodes of the show have always premiered on Netflix in either February or March.
