Writer-director Robert Conway’s partnership with Uncork’d Entertainment began with his horror film “The Encounter,” about a camping trip gone horribly wrong, and continued with “Krampus: The Reckoning,” about a little girl’s relationship with Krampus, the dark companion of St. Nicholas who punishes “bad children” at Christmastime in horrifying ways. Now, he’s working with Uncork’d again on the Krampus sequel entitled “Krampus Unleashed,” which signals the return of the yuletide monster after a group of fortune hunters mistakenly awaken him after years of being dormant. “Audiences really went for ‘Krampus: The Reckoning,'” said Uncork’d Entertainment President Keith Leopard, “so when Robert came to us with his idea for another film featuring the character – albeit one that would not only be bigger, badder and bloodier but a standalone story with new characters and a fun new setting – we were immediately intrigued.I guarantee ‘Krampus Unleashed’ is gorier and funner than most of the horror films released theatrically over the Summer.”
The mythic figure of Krampus has appeared in films and television before. Most recently, it was the subject of the horror comedy “Krampus,” starring Adam Scott and Toni Collette, as well as the subject of one of the four stories in the horror anthology film “A Christmas Horror Story.”
“Krampus Unleashed” will be released on November 1 on VOD and on December 13 on DVD from Uncork’d Entertainment.
