‘Legion’ Teaser: Dan Stevens Is a Danger to Himself as Professor X’s Son in Upcoming Marvel Series

The eight-episode drama will premiere on FX early next year.




We’ve heard a good deal about “Legion” in recent months, including last weekend’s news that Jemaine Clement will be joining the Marvel/FX Series. Now there’s a promo video to go along with the new show, which stars Dan Stevens as the schizophrenic son of “X-Men” leader Professor Xavier. Watch below.

Lasting just 16 seconds, the short clip shows Stevens — who made a name for himself as Cousin Matthew on “Downton Abbey” and has since appeared in films like “The Guest” and “Colossal” — meeting with what looks to be a psychiatrist. “My job is to assess,” the man says, “are you still a danger to yourself or others?” Stevens stars David Heller, AKA Legion.

In a break from Marvel’s other forays into television, like “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and the trio of Netflix series that most recently added “Luke Cage” to its ranks, “Legion” is a standalone narrative. Katie Aselton, Aubrey Plaza, and Rachel Keller co-star in the eight-episode first season of the show, which will premiere on FX in early 2017.
