After the series of best-selling books and not quite best-selling movie, “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” will soon be available in televisual form. The new show comes courtesy of Netflix, as does its just-announced release date of January 13 (a Friday, of course). Watch the video below for more.
Neil Patrick Harris plays the evil Count Olaf this time around, picking up where Jim Carrey left off in the 2004 film; he’s joined in the series by Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket, Joan Cusack as Justice Strauss, Malina Weissman as Violet Baudelaire and Louis Hynes and Klaus Baudelaire. Warburton takes center stage in the announcement video, which takes a self-reflexive approach to selling the upcoming series — NPH’s voice can be hard in the background, but he doesn’t actually appear in the flesh.
All eight episodes of “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” will be available to stream on Netflix starting January 13.
