Oculus, the acclaimed virtual reality company acquired by Mark Zuckerberg in 2014, hosts its third annual developer conference this weekend entitled Oculus Connect 3. Connect is where engineers, designers, and creatives from around the world come together to push the virtual reality community forward and explore the latest VR content. The main event is a 2-hr presentation where the company’s leaders will lay out the future of their VR technology and the next steps for Oculus. You can watch the event live from the San Jose McEnery Convention Center below on Twitch or live on VR with NextVR starting at 1pm ET.
Founded by Palmer Luckey and Brendan Iribe in 2012, Oculus first gained prominence when it announced the Oculus Rift, a VR head-mounted display designed for video gaming. After a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised over $2.5 million, the headset went through years of development before it was released in March of this past year to acclaim. Oculus recently garnered controversy when it was revealed that co-founder Luckey had secretly spent millions backing Nimble America, a pro-Trump organization that supports their candidate through advertising and viral posts, including anti-Hillary memes and images.
