Paul Thomas Anderson has been involved with the band Radiohead for a few years now. Lead guitarist Jonny Greenwood has composed the scores for the last three Anderson films — “There Will Be Blood,” “The Master,” and “Inherent Vice” — and in turn both collaborated on the documentary “Junun” about the making of an album in Mehrangarh Fort in Rajasthan, India, by Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur. Most recently, Anderson has directed music videos for songs off of Radiohead’s latest album “A Moon Shaped Pool,” such as “Daydreaming” and “Present Tense.” His latest video for the band is for the song “The Numbers,” which features frontman Thom Yorke and Greenwood playing the song in the woods alongside a Roland CR-78 drum machine. Anderson is no stranger to directing music videos as he’s been doing it since the late 90s. He directed the video for Michael Penn’s “Try” while editing “Boogie Nights,” as well as five separate videos for Fiona Apple since 1998. He also directed the video for Aimee Mann’s “Save Me,” which was prominently featured in his film “Magnolia.” Last year, he directed two videos for singer and harpist Joanna Newsom, who appeared in “Inherent Vice,” off of her latest album “Divers.”
