Now if you’ve seen “The Force Awakens,” it was shocking to discover Han Solo’s (Harrison Ford) fate and find out that his own son Ben, aka Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), was the one that took his life. In the video below, courtesy of USA Today, Abrams talks about Ren’s internal conflict and if he thinks that he was just playing with his father’s emotions.

“Kylo Ren in this moment is actually being convinced to walk away from this,” says the director. “Snoke is, as Han says, using him. And I think somewhere Ben knowns this but I think that he can’t accept it, and deep down, he’s gone too far.”

Abrams also notes that Lawrence Kasdan’s son, Jon Kasdan, helped in getting the scene right.
