‘Stranger Things’ Newscast Alludes to the Fate of Barb — Watch

Also: Stay away from Mirkwood this Halloween.

If all the Eleven costumes you’ve seen for Halloween aren’t enough to sate your “Stranger Things” obsession, here’s another reminder of the binge-worthy show’s existence: a faux-newscast addressing some of the questions left hanging by season one. The main topic broached by Brenda Wood in her “Minute by Minute” segment: the fate of Barb, who became a fan favorite in just a few episodes.

“When asked to describe Barbara,” the reporter says, “her friends and peers praised her as someone who was loyal to a fault.” Also, she can “really rock a pair of mom jeans — or, as we call them now, jeans” and sports “an absolutely fantastic pair of glasses.” Barb plays the best friend of a main character in “Stranger Things,” and has ascended to meme status since the ’80s-set Netflix show premiered over the summer.

Wood also alludes to a shoplifting incident in which several boxes of Eggos were stolen — a sly reference to Eleven, who loves the microwavable waffles as much as E.T. loves Reese’s Pieces — and warns viewers to “avoid Mirkwood this Halloween.” Watch the full video below.
