Amy Sherman-Palladino Discusses Whether or Not There Will Be More ‘Gilmore Girls’

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” hit Netflix two days ago, and by now many have surely binged the four 90-minute episodes and begun wondering what comes next. In news that’s certain to receive mixed reactions, showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino tells the Hollywood Reporter that she feels the story is complete, at least for now: “We really had a very specific journey in our minds and we fulfilled the journey.”

“So to us, this is the piece that we wanted to do,” she continues. “And the whole thought about, is there more, is there more, is there more — this has to go out into the universe now. We’ve got to put this to bed. And then whatever happens, happens.” Scott Patterson, who plays Luke on the show, strikes a more hopeful note: “It’s been nice to do it every year. Maybe every two years, [we can] do a three-month thing, do four more chapters.”

“It was easy to do. It was fun,” he adds. “It was really rewarding and people got a sense that if this was going to be the last thing that we now have some closure.”
