David Blaine isn’t a witch… or is he? The superstar magician is returning to ABC for the first time in three years with “David Blaine: Beyond Magic,” but this special is a little different. For the first time, cameras go behind the tricks to show a little bit about Blaine’s process – and how the people around him aren’t always pleased with his choices.

It’s the precursor for a potential full documentary that Blaine is kicking around.

Blaine has made headlines over the years as he continues to risk his life for his art. His endurance stunts include burying himself alive, under a 3-ton water-filled tank, for seven days. He was once encased in a block of ice for 63 hours, sealed in a Plexiglas case for 44 days and submerged in water for seven days. For “David Blaine: Beyond Magic,” the magician attempt to perfect the trick of catching a bullet in his mouth.

David Beckham, Johnny Depp, Drake, Steph Curry, Dave Chappelle, John Travolta, Patrick Stewart, Emma Stone and Arnold Schwarzenegger are among the celebrities that Blaine wows on the latest special, in addition to people on the street. Matthew Akers directed the special, which Blaine executive produced himself. We talked to Blaine recently to hear what’s different about this special.
