The awards season keeps moving along with more nominations adding to speculation about the Oscar race. This week’s announcement of the Independent Spirit Award nominations includes a number of movies that have been a big part of the conversation for months — but a few surprises as well. They also touch on Hailee Steinfeld’s impressive performance in “The Edge of Seventeen,” mixed feelings about “Patriot’s Day,” and some exciting personal news.
