‘Triple Threat’: Tony Jaa, Tiger Chen and Iko Uwais Join New Martial Arts Film

Remember, the champion doesn't have to be pinned to lose his title.

When most of us hear the words “triple threat,” we of course think of professional wrestling. Who among us can say we don’t fondly recall all three members of the Shield finally doing battle this summer, for instance, or WrestleMania 30’s main event between Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton and Batista? It should thus come as no small disappointment to learn that the upcoming film “Triple Threat” does not take placed in the squared circle, but fret not, dear marks: It does at least have a fine cast.

Tony Jaa, Tiger Chen and Iko Uwais are to be the main trio in director Wang Xiaolie’s martial-arts picture, about a Chinese fighter whose ex-wife and son are kidnapped. This necessitates a trip to Mexico, where one imagines a good deal of fighting will go down, perhaps involving all three stars at once.

Chad Stahelski, ever the tag-team specialist (he co-directed “John Wick”), will be involved with the film’s action design. Xiaolie will be directing from a screenplay by Dwayne Smith.
