As if they weren’t already bordering on the absurd, TV’s pundit factory is getting the sitcom treatment.
“Black-ish” executive producer Kenya Barris is behind the show, along with Vijal Patel (both of whom will serve as exec producers). The show stars Huffman and Vance as “two polar-opposite political pundits who fall in love despite all odds and form an insta-family as well as a work partnership.”
E. Brian Dobbins, Huffman, and Vance will also executive produce.
Huffman most recently starred on ABC’s “American Crime”; her relationship with the network also includes “Desperate Housewives” and “Sports Night.” Vance was seen this year in FX’s “The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story,” and also guest starred in ABC’s “Scandal” last season.
“Libby & Malcolm” couldn’t come at a more opportune time, as pundits continue to crowd the cable news networks in the wake of the election and a Trump presidency. No word on how current or topical Barris and Patel might make “Libby & Malcolm,” but Barris hasn’t shied away from tackling tough subjects – along with plenty of humor – on “Black-ish.”
