Here’s your daily dose of an indie film, web series, TV pilot, what-have-you in progress, as presented by the creators themselves. At the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.
In the meantime: Is this a project you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.
Logline: A revenge thriller about Daphne, who moves to the Coast with her boyfriend, Roger, to start a new life. But when they run into Susanna, Daphne learns Roger hasn’t been totally honest about his past.
“Seaside” is a microbudget, female-driven revenge thriller set among the dramatic landscape of the Oregon Coast. Daphne realizes that Roger hasn’t been entirely honest about his past and she’ll have to fight to save her relationship and maybe even her life. We have four lead actors who are all New York actors with significant credits, dramatic Oregon settings, and a fun story with twists and turns.
Sam Zalutsky, writer/director/producer (first feature: “You Belong to Me”)
Alysssa Roehrenbeck, producer
Kevin Corstange, producer
Phil Anderson, cinematographer
Jade Harris, production designer/wardrobe designer
Megan Diana McGeorge, composer
Since this a microbudget feature, we have a very small crew of about 14 people, where everyone played multiple roles.
About the Film:
Seaside is my love letter to my home state, to stories with twists and turns, like Polanski’s “Repulsion,” Ozon’s “See the Sea,” or “Strangers by the Lake,” to the dangerous beauty of the Oregon Coast, and to the dangerous beauty in all of us, where the line between our better and worse natures is permeable. As a country, we need more stories with people of color and women protagonists so I made Daphne a woman of color. Another inspiration: What if the Kathleen Turner’s “Body Heat” character were the protagonist of her own movie? What would that look like?
Current Status: We are in post-production, raising our finishing funds on Kickstarter and working on the sound edit, music, and color correct.
