The film is described as concerning “a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.” Through the powers of deductive reasoning, one might reasonably conclude that Lawrence and Bardem play said couple, while the rest of the cast — Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Harris and Domhnall Gleeson — as the interlopers.

James Jean designed the poster, and a look at his website reveals plenty of other striking work. Best known for “Requiem for a Dream,” “The Wrestler” and “Black Swan,” Aronofsky most recently directed the biblical epic “Noah.” “mother!” is set to be released on October 13.

I don’t know why you would assume that the couple is Lawrence and Bardem when Gleeson is much more Lawrence’s age and a better match with her as a couple. Bardem is a bit too much older than Lawrence and it would seem a bit of a weird match. For a tranquil and ideal couple, Gleeson and her would be a much easier way to go for the disruption that is going to take place. And who better to disrupt than Bardem. Who knows? I don’t care as I don’t care for Lawrence in the least and have never been able to fully embrace this director’s work, so I’ve no real interest in the movie.

I’m shocked. Thought I was the only one who scratches their head at Lawrence’s popularity. In any case, Bardem is the husband and, interesting fact, Aronofsky has praised his work on the film with almost no mention of Lawrence’s work. Anyway, for some reason people buy Lawrence as an older woman so they cast her with older actors. Any time someone stands next to her though you see the age difference. As for Aronofsky, his best works are his grounded works. “The Wrestler” and “Black Swan”, “Requiem for a Dream”. When he tries to be overly abstract he tends to struggle. “Black Swan” only worked because it had “Swan Lake” as a framing device to guide the story. In my opinion anyway.

This is amazing. My most highly anticipated movie of 2017. Aronofsky, Lawrence and that incredible cast! This movie will sweep at the Oscars.
