Jeffrey Tambor may be gone from “Transparent” following accusations of sexual harassment, but the show must go on. Exactly what that show will look like remains uncertain, but Jay Duplass is cautiously optimistic about its future. Speaking to the Daily Beast, the actor says that “to some people, it seems impossible without Maura. But I don’t know.”

Tambor — who’s won a multitude of awards for his leading performance on the Amazon series — was ousted from “Transparent” after being accused of harassment by both his former assistant and actress Trace Lysette, who co-starred on on the show. He has denied any wrongdoing and criticized Amazon for its handling of the situation.

“I am profoundly disappointed in Amazon’s handling of these false accusations against me. I am even more disappointed in Jill Soloway’s unfair characterization of me as someone who would ever cause harm to any of my fellow cast mates,” Tambor said in a statement.

“Jill’s been under so much pressure, not knowing whether Jeffrey’s going to be in the show or not, regime changes at Amazon, whether they need to end the show or re-open it, trying to do justice to the legacy of their family, and at the same time just emotionally processing the implosion of our family of the people who make ‘Transparent,’” Duplass adds.

Though “the whole experience is painful and really hard to process,” Duplass says he has “huge confidence” in Soloway’s “ability to make timely art that enlightens us to what’s coming.”

Even so, he admits that “it’s been an incredibly traumatic time.” Read his full interview here.
