Review: 'What's Your Number?' Squanders All Goodwill Toward Anna Faris & Chris Evans In 100 Minutes

You will enjoy “What’s Your Number?” only if you’re mentally deficient and/or consider looking at Chris Evans’s V-shaped lower abs for 100 minutes a good use of mental energy (note that these aren’t mutually exclusive). Don’t get us wrong: we can appreciate a mindless romantic comedy--and a nice set...

'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Star J.B. Smoove Bags A Role In Sacha Baron Cohen's 'The Dictator'

Star's Brother Erran Baron Cohen To Compose The MusicMore or less everyone involved in long-running HBO comedy "Curb Your Enthusiasm" has done pretty well out of it outside of the day job: creator/star Larry David toplined a Woody Allen film (albeit a terrible one...) and bagged a supporting turn in "The Three Stooges," Jeff Garlin's become a Pixar stalwart second only to John Ratzenberger, while Cheryl Hines got to make her directorial debut on "Serious Moonlight." But perhaps the biggest breakout seems to be the actor who's behind one of the most seminal supporting characters on the show: J.B. Smoove, who's played Leon Black on the last cou...

Watch: Anna Faris Falls In Love, Mid-Season Replacement Sitcom Style, In 'What's Your Number'

As It Turns Out, Martin Freeman & Anthony Mackie Are Also In The Cast Anna Faris is an extremely talented comedienne. There's no denying that. Ever since her early appearances in the "Scary Movie" franchise, she's shone, even with material that's generally far beneath her. But every time it looks li...

Rewind: The Week In Movies, April 11-17

It was a busy week at The Playlist, with announcements for "Man Of Steel" and "The Dark Knight Rises," a few big trailer premieres and, our biggest thrill, the announcement of the Cannes '11 lineup. We decided to cull together the ten news stories this week that generated the heaviest debate, so if ...

Anna Faris To Star In Stalker-Roommate Comedy, Will Take Less Crazy Lead Role

Lots of buzz is building around Anna Faris these days. She was recently the subject of an extensive -- if somewhat early, and kind of random -- profile in the New Yorker that looked over her career, chatted about the making of the forthcoming "What's Your Number?" and even got her opinion on past fi...

Infamous 'Observe And Report' Vomit Sex Scene Still Divisive, Anna Faris Uncertain She'd Do It Again

Also Hated 'My Super-Ex Girlfriend' & Was Glad It BombedWhile critics and audiences pretty much agreed that Jody Hill's "Observe and Report" was an unfunny misfire, perhaps the lasting "legacy" of the movie was the very uncomfortable sex scene between Ronnie (Seth Rogen) and Brandi (Anna Faris). If you haven't seen the film, the sequence finds Ronnie, a security guard at a mall taking Brandi, a salesgirl out on a date. After more than a few drinks, shots and even a handful of pills, Brandi and Ronnie return to his place and she is very clearly sick and intoxicated, vomiting before they even get in the door. Cut to the bedroom where Ronnie is ...

Aziz Ansari Making A Cameo In Raunchy R-Rated Anna Faris Comedy 'What's Your Number?'

This year, the studios are hoping women can bring in the raunchy R-rated laughs their male counterparts already can. While Warner Bros. will take another bite of the bankable apple with "The Hangover Part II," their competitors are rolling their dice with female driven laffers with Universal's "Bridesmaids," Sony's "Bad Teacher" and Fox's "What's Your Number" all in the pipeline. Female driven comedies -- that aren't rom-coms -- are already a hard sell and it's no surprise that execs are fine tuning the films up until the last minute. You can bet that the SXSW, "work-in-progess" screening of "Bridesmaids" was as much about gauging early audie...

Watch: 'Take Me Home Tonight' Confirms That It's Incredibly Lame To Work At Suncoast Video

Ah, Suncoast Video. The one-time suburban staple of home video rentals is no more, but it lives on in "Take Me Home Tonight" a 1988-set comedy that seems to giving a big, huge nod to the '80s films of John Hughes.
