5 Things You Might Not Know About 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'

Late last year, Disney released CGI animation "Wreck-It Ralph," and thanks to its wide selection of cameos from videogame legends, barely a review passed without comparison to another Disney film from the past -- 1988's "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," which included dozens of brief appearances from class...

The 5 Best Bob Hoskins Performances

For many actors, there is no such word as "retirement." While there are big names who slip away from the movie business to do other things, or simply enjoy time off as they head into their twilight years -- Gene Hackman and Peter O'Toole being among the recent examples -- those feel like the excepti...

Snow White and the Huntsman—movie review

Sometimes, while I’m watching a bad movie, one burning question arises: “What were they thinking?” That’s what I asked myself while suffering through 'Snow White and the Huntsman', a putrid, and seemingly endless, retelling of the famous fairy tale. "Super Mario Bros.," the big screen version of the Nintendo phenomenon was a disaster at every turn. With constant rewrites during filming, w...

Review: 'Made in Dagenham' is Your Standard Pre-Oscar Crowd Pleaser

Unlike its bold heroines, "Made in Dagenham" doesn't break any new ground. But just because it's treading the familiar waters of "Norma Rae," "The Full Monty," and director Nigel Cole's own "Calendar Girls" and "Saving Grace," doesn't mean that it's not an enjoyable diversion, particularly if you're looking for something to watch with the middle-aged woman in your life. "Made in Dageham" is inspiring in that (wo)man-against-the-world sort of way, and its talent and historical basis are compelling enough that you don't have to feel guilty. Sally Hawkins (so great in "Happy-Go-Lucky" and, well, everything) is sympathetic but strong as Rita O'G...
