Liev Schreiber, Sally Hawkins & Romola Garai To Star In Ruari Robinson's Sci-Fi 'The Last Days On Mars'

Is there a curse of sci-fi movies set on Mars? We don't believe that, but there's plenty of evidence to support that theory, with virtually every film set on our nearest planetary neighbor -- from "Mission To Mars" to "Red Planet" from "Ghosts Of Mars" and "Mars Needs Moms" to "John Carter" -- all d...

Review: 'Goon' Is A Middling Sports Comedy Elevated By A Surprising Turn By Seann William Scott

It feels odd that "Goon," a brutal comedy based around the sport, from the pen of hockey-loving Apatow grads Jay Baruchel (star of "Undeclared" and "Knocked Up") and Evan Goldberg (co-writer, with Seth Rogen, of "Superbad" and "Pineapple Express"), would go on wide release in Britain this weekend, w...

New Posters and Images Debut For 'Goon' (No, Not 'The Goon')

Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival this week is "Goon," a hockey comedy co-written by Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen's writing partner Evan Goldberg, which, it should be noted, is not the David Fincher-produced animation adaptation of the Eric Powell comic book "The Goon" nor is it the two-part Kevin Smith hockey epic "Hit Somebody" (which will presumably be the "Che" of bawdy hockey comedies). What it is, as we noted when the red band trailer debuted, a mediocre-looking comedy about a hockey coach who recruits a thug (Sean William Scott) to stop a violence-prone opponent (Liev Schreiber), notable only for Schreiber's truly aw...

Liev Schreiber, James Marsden & Liv Tyler Join Indie 'Robot And Frank'

Frank Langella, Jeremy Strong & Susan Sarandon Also On BoardIf a cast that includes Liev Schreiber, Liv Tyler, Frank Langella, James Marsden and Susan Sarandon doesn’t get you excited for the sci-fi influenced indie “Robot and Frank,” perhaps it’s time to check your own wiring. While all four names have had their share of misfires lately, namely Schreiber in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and Langella and Sarandon in “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps,” all are in high demand and frankly deliver solid performances when they are working with the right talent. Actor Jeremy Strong is an interesting newcomer who has the upcoming comedy “See Girl Run”...

Jeremy Renner May Star In 'You’re Not You' With Hilary Swank, Clive Owen & Uma Thurman Go 'Blind'

More Casting Bits: Alice Eve & Liev Schreiber Join Director Mark Pellington, Craig Bierko Will Play A 'Stooges' VillainProducers in Cannes talk loose. There's a bevy of talks, negotiations and (shudder) pre-attachment deals going on around the Croisette this week, but don't be surprised if all the actors announced don't actually appear in the films they're touted to be in (see last year when, for example Amy Adams was listed in the original version of John Hillcoat's "The Wettest County," which died and then came back to life this year). A lot of these are early teasing promises to get investors involved and sometimes they work, sometimes the...
