Review: A Fat Man, Animals That Sound Like Sitcom Characters & The Terrible 'Zookeeper'

Early on in “Zookeeper,” Sony’s latest commercially craven piece of garbage from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison production company, an animal sees two bears fighting. Her response is, “They look like two bean bag chairs!” Ignoring the idea that this character, a giraffe, has probably never even seen a...

'Conan' Star Jason Momoa Cast As Bad Guy In Stallone/Walter Hill Actioner 'Headshot'

"Game of Thrones" hasn't just been one of the best series of the just-finished TV seasons, one that improved week-on-week, but it also proved to be a big hit, increasing its audience by nearly 40% between its premiere and its finale on Sunday. The survivors are set to get going on a second season in...

Simon West Keeps Failing Upwards, Now Directing 'The Expendables 2'

If you were to draw up a list of the ten worst directors currently working in Hollywood, you'd have to save space for Simon West, who came out swinging with the botched delirium of sub-Bay actioner "Con Air" and has only gone downhill from there. West's films are cacophonous noise tunnels where the human spirit is unwelcome, where cynicism and craven stupidity triumph over creativity and ingenuity. Each one of his films has either a ripe premise, a great cast, or a too-big budget, only to be squandered by his narrow vision and neanderthal caveman storytelling. Yet somehow, Sylvester Stallone, who normally has an ear for his dyed-in-the-wool f...

'Fast Five' Star Sung Kang To Join Untitled Sylvester Stallone-Walter Hill Collaboration

Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment Producing; Film Begins Shooting Later This MonthIt seemed to make sense that Sylvester Stallone would reach out to Thomas Jane to co-star in the film formerly-titled "Headshot" as both were macho brawlers with a significant age difference. The thriller, from director Walter Hill, was to match Stallone as a professional killer with Jane the young cop who must collaborate with the hitman to solve a massive conspiracy. And then Dark Castle and superproducer Joel Silver got involved. And looks like Silver he threw his weight around, claiming a Dark Castle mandate for racially mixed lead cast members, so Jan...

'Expendables 2' Releases Promo Poster And Fake Synopsis, While JCVD Rumors Persist

You asked for it: Sly and the gang are suiting up for "The Expendables 2." As the last film made a killing in international pre-sales, so will this one, as Nu Image is shopping the yet-to-be-shot actioner in Cannes with this brand new poster. Yes, it reeks of cheese, but it's also a mock-up probably...

Sly Confirms Walter Hill Directing Stallone Actioner 'Headshot'

Old school action fans, Sylvester Stallone hears your pleas. Most likely he took criticism of his direction regarding "The Expendables" to heart, announcing he would not be directing the sequel. Now he's fulfilling their wishes by teaming up with one of the most respected action directors of all tim...

Grumpy Old Tough Guys: Walter Hill In Talks To Direct Sylvester Stallone In 'Headshot'

Hard to believe that over the course of their red meat-eatin' action careers, Sylvester Stallone and Walter Hill never crossed paths. Hill has directed the likes of Eddie Murphy, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and the immortal James Remar, but not once has he been associated with the headstrong...

Sylvester Stallone Thriller 'Headshots' & Steve Carell Comedy 'Burt Wonderstone' Both Lose Directors

It's got to be hard for a director to walk away from a feature-directing gig. If you're lucky, you get to make a film once every couple of years, and, while some helmers are able to boost their income with rewrite work or commercials, or TV and music videos gigs, sometimes that one feature is your only income. But at the same time, you only get to make a certain number of movies in a career, and if the stars aren't aligning correctly, sometimes the only thing you can do is pack your bags. It's not an uncommon occurence -- Guillermo Del Toro leaving "The Hobbit" and Darren Aronofsky bailing on "The Wolverine" being two recent examples -- and i...

Sylvester Stallone Won't Be Writing Or Directing 'The Expendables 2'

Call it mad genius or a stroke of luck, but Sylvester Stallone seemed to have found a cinematic scratch that wasn't being itched when he got together a bunch of aging action stars, put them in a movie he co-wrote and directed, and smiled to himself as "The Expendables" went on and snatched up $275 m...

Sylvester Stallone To Star In Wayne Kramer's 'Headshot'

Wayne Kramer's career has been a bit of a headscratcher. The director came out of nowhere with "The Cooler," the Sundance sensation that went on to earn Alec Baldwin a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination. Kramer then followed that up with the the pulpy "Running Scared," a ludicrous post-Tarantino tale that is severely overrated by its niche of fans. He then shifted gears again for the "Crash"-aping "Crossing Over" which was ultimately taken out of his hands by Harvey Weinstein and hacked down from its original 2 hour and 20 minute runtime to the version that's out there now. So what will Kramer do next? Well it appears that he's moved on f...
