Film Independent has announced the eight filmmakers and projects selected for its 8th annual Directors Lab. The Lab was designed to offer up and coming filmmakers the chance to work on their projects and hone their technical skills in a nurturing, collaborative environment. “Through the Lab, we ensure talented fimmakers gain access to industry contacts and support services that may not otherwise be available. This year’s Lab is comprised of a diverse and talented group of directors who represent the next generation of independent filmmakers,” said Film Independent’s Director of Talent Development, Josh Welsh. Among the recent projects developed through the lab is Cherien Dabis’s “Amreeka,” which premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.
