Sorry but I don't think War Horse is getting any credit whatsoever. Sure it had its cheesy moments, but the cinematography was incredible. The storyline as well was thought provoking and something that really sticks with you, horse lover or not. I've seen list of the movies and War Horse jumped out at me as one of the most deserving. Not sire if it OS going to win best picture but it definitly deserves this award and others!
Roxanne I. | February 26, 2012 9:49 PM
...and the winner is Tree of Life!
Walt | February 25, 2012 2:41 PM
Are you kidding me...for Cinematography, it has to be Tree of Life if there is any justice. This film may have been as boring as possible for about 90% of the time but it sure was beautiful to look at.
JennyTulwortz | February 25, 2012 12:50 PM
I just love The Artist
Miguel | February 24, 2012 7:17 PM
Alberto Iglesias will pick the prize for best original score. It´s amazing! Good luck, Alberto!
John | February 24, 2012 4:09 PM
Transformers Dark of the Moon should win sound mixing, sound editing, and visual effects, it blows away all the other nominees, there is no contest when it comes to transformers, but i bet it won't win any, because it's a Michael Bay film, the academy is nothing but a bunch of biased bastards
Rod | February 23, 2012 1:44 PM
I wrote a long thing about this years nominees for best score, but it said that is was spam so there you go!!!
Brady | February 23, 2012 1:54 AM
Lubezki better win for cinematography or I'm gonna be pissed
Don | February 20, 2012 12:52 PM
Look to the Guilds. ASC says it is the Tree of Life, not Hugo.
But you knew that.
Chad | February 19, 2012 8:25 PM
I really hope Dragon Tattoo wins something, though I doubt it will.
Common Sense | February 19, 2012 2:57 PM
It makes me sick to think that The Tree of Life might not win Cinematography. It deserves it the most in my opinion.
Tyler | February 19, 2012 12:00 AM
Man or Muppet should absolutely win best original song, and "The Muppets" should win Best Picture b/c the films were weak this year.
asid | February 17, 2012 5:26 AM
Best supporting actor.
Nick Nolte/Warrior

Michael Davenport | February 11, 2012 8:43 AM
the score for 'The Artist' is right up there (in my opinion) with 'The Kings Speech' 'There Will Be Blood' and 'Inception' incredible!
Jon | February 8, 2012 2:44 PM
These are the technical categories, so why is everyone judging the nominations based on the quality of the film?

kapn | January 28, 2012 1:17 AM
bullshit, as excellent a film composer as Howard Shore is, there is no way in the world that The Artist should not win Best Score. Anyone with ears the diameter of a cue tip can hear the difference between the two.
Dadsad2 | January 26, 2012 11:27 PM
I really don't know why Tree of Life isn't predicted for Best Cinematography. Even people who hated that movie (such as myself), as well as those in some respective art field, will agree that that is something which was done extremely well.
dadsad | January 26, 2012 7:48 PM
Whoever doesn't vote for The Tree of Life for best cinematography should get kicked out of the Academy.
Zach | January 25, 2012 3:29 PM
There are plenty of Harry Potter d*** riders on this site. Go watch some real cinema.
Nemanya | January 24, 2012 3:35 AM
What the hell? Transformers doesn't even deserve nominations in technical categories.
QRO | January 23, 2012 7:32 PM
THE ARTIST, THE BEST MOVIE I´VE SEEN IN YEARS...
Suriel | January 23, 2012 4:40 PM
I'm sorry, but Harry Potter deserves nominations AND WINS in all of these awards, except, of course, best original song. It would be ok if it does not get nominated for costume design, but it deserves recognition in all the others. And, again i'm sorry, but whoever wrote the predictions for original music did not see HP7 part 2. That was an AMAZING score.
Yngve Horvei | January 23, 2012 3:21 PM
If they think everything good about Harry Potter is visual effects and make up, they are terribly wrong!
MrCinematic | January 23, 2012 3:03 PM
wait, can't "The Artist" not win best original score because parts of its score was from other movies. A similar thing happened to "Black Swan" last year for using one song that was not original
R.M | January 22, 2012 1:32 AM
Best Original Score should go to Tintin.
And Harry Potter Deserves to win some Oscars after such a wonderful, and powerful series turnout. Such complex, beautiful and layered films. Such Great powerhouse performances-Alan Rickman !!!
Harry Potter needs to win. it is legend. | January 21, 2012 11:57 PM
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART2 TO DOMINATE OSCARS...please(:
imwatchinu | January 21, 2012 9:15 AM
I agree with all of the NO. 1's above
BOO | January 20, 2012 7:57 PM
Hugo has everything except sound. It got all technical noms at the BAFTAs including sound. WHY IS THE ARTIST GETTING SOUND! THERE WAS ALMOST NO SOUND
Nakemm | January 19, 2012 1:30 PM
Warrior. Best film. best supporting actor. hands down. I can't believe Warrior isn't getting attention for being the amazing film it is. I'm so pissed at the Academy for this one.
David | January 19, 2012 12:18 PM
"Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" is too good not to get some technical nominations. Art Direction, Cinematography, Costumes, etc. It's an amazing re-creation of 19th century England!
BOO | January 17, 2012 9:19 PM
I don't understand. Can someone explain how The Artist is getting sound nominations?
Paido | January 17, 2012 6:34 PM
You are all idiots, non of you has even mention Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, SHAME ON YOU!
Wendy | January 17, 2012 10:01 AM
Best and amazing make-up is in Iron Lady.
Jb | January 17, 2012 7:33 AM
W.E. should get at least 4 nominations,
best suporting actress, best original song, best original score, best costume design!
BUT, as the movie director is Madonna, nothing of this will be possible!
Ike | January 16, 2012 1:28 PM
Best Makeup: J. EDGAR.
jaxguy | January 16, 2012 8:22 AM
Midnight in Paris will get some technical nominations. I think 5 or 6 noms total.
Jay | January 16, 2012 5:38 AM
My vote? Imaginary Friends from the movie "Olive".
The JET | January 15, 2012 7:39 PM
Pictures in my Head for the win! That song packed so much emotion with a dash of humor. A modern Muppets classic.
Steph | January 15, 2012 5:56 PM
OMG!!! harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2 is such a good movie!!!! in my not so humble opinion that movie should be predicted to be nominated for way more awards!!! they need to win and be honored!!!! i mean this is the highest grossing movie of all time people! its the end of the world wide phenomenon!!!
Alan | January 12, 2012 2:04 PM
In my opinion(and keep in mind im a huge NIN fan) there is no way girl with the dragon tattoo wont win the award for original score....i mean....ive listened to the social networks soundtrack alot...and to be frank.....i think girl with the dragon tattoo blows it out of the water. just the feel the girl with the dragon tattoo gives you...it cant be described. its like a movie within a movie. If this score is better than one that won last year then i believe it should clear as day be the winner.
jason | January 10, 2012 6:35 AM
about foreign movie: where do we go now ? Declaration of War, in darkness are the best movie in this year .deserve to Oscar.why didn't nominated for golden globe ,did they see ithem?it was a big mistake .hey shouldn't choice for policy .
gatotsu911 | January 10, 2012 4:58 AM
Personally I'd say Best Cinematography is a tossup between Tree of Life and War Horse, and much as I loved War Horse my money's on Tree of Life. For editing, Tree of Life or Girl With the Dragon Tattoo; for original score, definitely Dragon Tattoo; for visual effects, either Rise of the Planet of the Apes or Super 8, though I haven't seen Hugo.
harukaxlove | January 9, 2012 10:26 PM
I'm liking that Best Sound Editing, Mixing, and Best Visual Effects all included "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol." It was [in my opinion] an amazing movie to watch, hear, and experience [twice.]
Hoping it wins (even if unlikely) in one category.
bob | January 8, 2012 5:17 PM
Movies are visual literature, an opportunity for people to experience something singly or communially.
...... the oscars were invented to promote films as a business.
You want something more fair and impartial...........................then perhaps try Rotten Tomatoes .
Do you go with the critics or anyone?
Like wine. If you like it........Great. Even if its red wine with chicken.
Jason | January 7, 2012 11:10 AM
The Artist? Really? This awards show is a joke. Enough with the artsy fartsy crap, the box office tells the real story as to what good "movies" are and the money they make is the best reward they can get.
Atiya Spence | January 6, 2012 10:43 PM
How in the hell is Captain America nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects?. There's nothing great about it. Enough said.
ABSIDD | January 6, 2012 7:21 PM
It's not Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon. It's Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Jess know before you write.
Tess | January 6, 2012 4:11 PM
how is Hanna not predicted for any of the nominations!? it was probably my favorite movie of the year and the soundtrack my the chemical brothers definitely needs some recognition. The music suited the whole feel of the movie so well. Hanna needs to be on this list somewhere.
Andrea | January 6, 2012 2:52 PM
No way ! Alan Rickman pleeeease !
sarah | January 6, 2012 11:36 AM
worst predictions for score i have ever seen. how can reznor and atticus win last year and not even make it in the top five this year???? the social networks score was amazing, but i have to admit dragon tatto is up there. it at least deserves a nom if not a win. the music went with the movie perfectly, and really set the dark erie tone for the movie. great job reznor and atticus.
