'Argo' Leads 2013 Critics Choice Award Winners

Mere hours after the Oscar nominations, the Broadcast Film Critics Association have announced the winners of the 18th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards, where -- like the Oscars -- Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" led with the most nominations going in.

And while "Lincoln" did just fine, taking home best actor, best original screenplay and best original score honors, it lost out on the big two prizes to Ben Affleck's "Argo," which won picture and director (coming after Affleck's snub in the latter category with Oscar earlier today).

While those were the only two awards for "Argo," "Silver Linings Playbook" led all winners with 4 awards, though notably 3 of them came thanks to the unnecessary new "comedy" categories, where it won best comedy, best comedy actor (Bradley Cooper) and best actress (Jennifer Lawrence). Lawrence -- while losing best "overall" actress to Jessica Chastain -- also won the best action actress prize for "The Hunger Games."

Congratulations to Jennifer Lawrence for being a new comer and going home with two awards for two different movies! I remember one of my friends I work with at DISH telling me that Lawrence was incredible in The Hunger Games, but I thought she was just being a THG fanatic. I was going to just read the book, but I noticed that itâs available to stream through my DISH Hopperâs Blockbuster @Home app. I wonât have to leave home, and itâll beat having to buy the book.

I'm very glad that Ben won the awards he deserved for this great film which I really enjoyed. I suppose that Lincoln film got so many nominations for the Oscars because it is elistist rubbish, and they never pick films which are popular at the box office, they think they are so much better than the rest of us plebs. I'm glad that Ben beat Spielberg for this award at least.
