The big story of the night was Ben Affleck becoming only the third person in history to win the DGA but not get an Oscar nomination. His win for "Argo" bodes well for the film becoming the first since "Driving Miss Daisy" and only the third in Oscar history to win best picture without a best director nomination.
Other major winners included Malik Bendjelloul for best documentary director ("Searching For Sugar Man"), Lena Denham for television comedy ("Girls") and Rian Johnson for television drama ("Breaking Bad").
