I am pretty sure that the transformation of Bella in Breaking Dawn 2 during her pregnancy has them all beat, hands down.

Looper, Hitchcock and Cloud Atlas for this category...but The Hobbit or Lincoln is already included in the shortlist.

I would go for Looper for making me believe the transformation they've made for Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Lincoln, did a good job too.

The Hobbit is a redo of the LOTR, nothing new.

excuse me did they not see the makeup for Naomi Watts and everyone else in The Impossible? They had such detail in everything and maintained and the cuts and dirt throughout the entire movie. It definitely should be nominated for this category.

  • Kyle Gilmour | Sat Jan 05 20:09:01 EST 2013Reply

Wait a minute. Cloud Atlas is not predicted? WHAT? The make-up in that film is by far the best of the year. Lincoln was not that good.

    This list is terrible.

  • ^_^ | Tue Jan 01 19:27:30 EST 2013Reply

i think the 3 possible contenders this year are : 1. HOBBIT 2. LINCOLN 3. LES MISERABLES :-)

  • Film Fan | Sun Dec 30 13:44:37 EST 2012Reply

The Hobbit deserves it and has a pretty great chance. Lincoln was good too though, I mean they totally transformed Lewis into a basically exact copy on Lincoln. While the Hobbit should get it I would not be surprised if Lincoln did. I mean if you look at last year, Harry Potter should have for sure won it but instead The Iron Lady did. The same thing could happen again this year.

Yeah I don't know how Cloud Atlas was not recognized for this. I mean Lincoln and Cloud Atlas cannot compare in makeup.

These are the only 7 potential candidates to get nominated. Cloud Atlas and The Hunger Games were not put on the short list.

  • jeff | Wed Dec 12 17:54:13 EST 2012Reply

What may work against The Hobbit is the fact that it's 48 framers per minute and 5k high res images are reportedly making the film's makeup appear noticeably artificial and fake.

Cloud Atlas has this one in the bag.

  • Steve | Sat Dec 01 17:16:45 EST 2012Reply

Cloud Atlas should take the makeup award this year hands down. Very innovative and integral to the film. However, I would expect The Hunger Games to get a nom in this category. The stylings of the capital city citizens were exceptional.

  • Iago | Wed Nov 21 23:58:10 EST 2012Reply

The Hobbit will WIN this award for sure.

  • Zane | Sun Nov 18 22:09:22 EST 2012Reply

I saw lincoln, that should get nominated

  • darren | Mon Nov 05 16:15:03 EST 2012Reply

The Hobbit is the only film this year where EVERYONE in the movie will be wearing complex makeup and hairstyles. Look up the 13 dwarves and tell me I'm wrong.

  • Anonymous | Thu Nov 08 13:01:41 EST 2012

I'm a huge LOTR fan but I'm gonna be honest and say that Cloud Atlas deserves this award without a doubt. Every actor played six different roles and shifted races and genders. Although the more awards The Hobbit gets the better, Cloud Atlas has this one locked down.

  • mm | Fri Nov 02 02:08:09 EDT 2012Reply

    You forgot the hunger games!

  • flmbyz | Thu Nov 01 23:48:34 EDT 2012Reply

Cloud Atlas is definitely the one to beat this year, but it's mixed reviews and bad box office might hurt its chances. The Hobbit will probably win because if it earns a Best Picture nomination. Lincoln may get the third nomination, but I think Looper might sneak in. Also, don't count out The Hunger Games and its crew headlined by make-up veteran Ve Neill.

  • Pee Pants | Wed Oct 31 14:59:55 EDT 2012Reply

Hands down, "Cloud Atlas" will win this one, even if the Asain makeup was at times a bit freakish (Especially on Hugh Grant).

  • PEE PANTS | Sat Dec 15 23:22:50 EST 2012

    Well, I fucked up.

  • Shad | Sun Oct 21 20:24:18 EDT 2012Reply

I think Guy Pearce in the old man make-up may have killed Prometheus' chance for this award...
