Here's our take on best sound mixing, which looks like a showdown between James Bond and "Les Mis." We give the slight edge to the latter, though hope the former might win anyway and give Greg P. Russell his first Oscar after 16 nominations.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pi won 1 or both of the sound awards just because last year they gave it to the most technically advanced movie: Hugo. Other than that, I think Skyfall has a shot at both as well.

Pi was the best mix by far. They had to mix a film that was almost entirely done with CGI and did a wonderful job. Also they mixed the film in Dolby Atmos which is a new format that no one else has ever used.

I think the top 5 predicted here (Skfall, TDKR, ZDT, Les Mis, Pi) will be what we see at the Oscars. And I think the winner will come down to Skyfall and The Dark Knight. But the Skyfall was by far the best. I do think the Avengers could easily swoop in here and take a nom from Les Mis but I doubt any other film will wiggle in there.
