2014 Emmy Predictions: Best Drama Actress

By Peter Knegt and Ben Travers | Indiewire April 7, 2014 at 4:23PM

Here's our take on the best drama actress category.
33
House Of Cards Robin Wright

Indiewire will provide regular updates of our predictions through August 25th, when the winners will be announced.

Well, Lizzy Caplan made it into the race -- now, can she do some damage? Robin Wright and Juliana Marguiles are the veterans of the group the Television Academy loves to reward, and the two could end up squaring off for the top prize. Kerry Washington shouldn't be ignored, and Claire Danes would need some late-emerging love for "Homeland" to take home the Emmy. Michelle Dockery, meanwhile, could play the spoiler if all the love "Downton Abbey" saw on nominations day translates to wins.

Below are predictions for best drama actress from both Indiewire Awards Editor Peter Knegt and Assistant TV Editor Ben Travers. Check out predictions in all the categories here.

The nominees:
Lizzy Caplan, "Masters of Sex"
Claire Danes, "Homeland"
Michelle Dockery, "Downton Abbey"
Julianna Marguiles, "The Good Wife"
Kerry Washington, "Scandal"
Robin Wright, "House of Cards"

Ben's predictions:
Will win: Robin Wright, "House of Cards"
Could win: Julianna Marguiles, "The Good Wife"
Should win: Robin Wright, "House of Cards"
Shoulda been here: Keri Russell, "The Americans"

Peter's predictions:

Could win: Kerry Washington, "Scandal"
Should win: Lizzy Caplan, "Masters of Sex"
Shoulda been here: Tatiana Maslany, "Orphan Black"
