2014 Emmy Predictions: Best Drama Supporting Actor

Indiewire By Peter Knegt and Ben Travers | Indiewire April 7, 2014 at 10:5PM

Here's our take on the best drama supporting actor category.
22
Ursula Coyote/AMC Aaron Paul in 'Breaking Bad'

Indiewire will provide regular updates of our predictions through August 25th, when the winners will be announced.

Is this Aaron Paul's trophy to lose? It's certainly hard to imagine the Television Academy not honoring the "Breaking Bad" star in his final season, partly because he's just so damn likable and partly because he simply deserves it. Still, it's also Josh Charles' last season on "The Good Wife" and after its Drama Series snub, voters could look to make up for it somewhere else. Or Peter Dinklage could take the trophy as the stand-out actor of the most nominated show. The rest of the crew would need a bit of luck to win, but that doesn't make the race any less exciting.

Below are predictions for best drama supporting actor from both Indiewire Awards Editor Peter Knegt and Assistant TV Editor Ben Travers. Check out predictions in all the categories here.

The nominees:
Jim Carter, "Downton Abbey"
Josh Charles, "The Good Wife"

Peter Dinklage, "Game of Thrones"
Mandy Patinkin, "Homeland"
Aaron Paul, "Breaking Bad"
Jon Voight - "Ray Donovan"

Ben's predictions:
Will win: Aaron Paul, "Breaking Bad"
Could win: Peter Dinklage, "Game of Thrones"
Should win: Aaron Paul, "Breaking Bad"
Shoulda been here: John Slattery, "Mad Men"

Peter's predictions:
Will win:  Josh Charles, "The Good Wife"
Could win: Aaron Paul, "Breaking Bad"
Should win: Aaron Paul, "Breaking Bad"
Shoulda been here: Peter Sarsgaard, "The Killing"
