While the Globes divide the acting categories into drama and comedy/music, they merge the screenplay categories into one, which makes this a very tricky category to call.
Paramount "Nebraska."

Indiewire will provide regular updates of our predictions for the Golden Globe Awards through January 12th, when the winners are announced.

With the original and adapted screenplay categories merged into one at the Globes, it's gonna be a very tight race. While Spike Jonze's "Her" or Bob Nelson's "Nebraska" scripts could possibly upset, it seems like the real showdown is Eric Singer and David O. Russell for "American Hustle" or John Ridley for "12 Years a Slave." We're guessing the former, but it will be tight.

Our take below. Check out all predictions in all the categories here.

The nominees:
"12 Years a Slave"
"American Hustle"

Will win: "American Hustle"
Could win: "12 Years a Slave"
Should win: "Her"
Shoulda been here: "Before Midnight"
