David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” is barreling into its Cannes competition premiere with early fans at Entertainment One. The Canadian company is locking up North American and UK distribution rights to the drama, which stars Robert Pattinson and is based on the Don DeLillo novel.
One source with knowledge of the negotiations puts the price tag north of $2 million. E1 declined to comment.
The film, which also stars Jay Baruchel, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti and Samantha Morton, already has distribution nailed down in several European territories. It will compete against Walter Salles’ “On the Road,” Lee Daniels’ “The Paperboy,” Michael Haneke’s “Amour” and John Hillcoat’s “Lawless,” among others.
