International Critics’ Week (La Semaine de la Critique), a sidebar of the Cannes Film Festival dedicated to showcasing the first and second films from emerging directorial talents, has announced a program of 10 feature films and several shorts for its 48th edition. In past years, the festival has screened the first and second films from directors such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Ken Loach, Wong Kar Wai and Francois Ozon. Speaking about this year’s selection of films, Artistic Director Jean-Christophe Berjon said: “Le Semaine presents the fewest number of films at Cannes. This year we decided to be even more radical by choosing to select only 10 feature films, a way for us to assert our choices more firmly and to give our undivided support to the feature films we present.” The 2009 edition of the festival runs May 14-22.
