1. Qloo: Qloo, a new recommendation app which is being compared to Pandora, has raised $1.6 million in funding from investors including Tommy Thompson, completing the startup's seed round of $3 million, the company announced. While Pandora suggests music you might like based on your preferences, Qloo suggests TV shows, movies, books, fashion and travel, among other things, you might like. The startup has launched its first iOS application, available to download for free from Apple’s iTunes Store. You can check out the Qloo web site here and download the app here.
2. Meet Brando: Thanks to Fandor, the subscription online film site, "Meet Marlon Brando," the documentary by Albert Maysles and David Maysles, will be available for the first time since its 1965 theatrical release. Starting tomorrow on Fandor, you can see the entire film, but we've got an exclusive clip for you here.
3. iPhone Movie: Billed as the first narrative feature to be shot on the iPhone, "Uneasy Lies the Mind" is a psychological thriller about a man who loses his sanity during a couple's retreat at an isolated mansion. Written by and starring actors Jonas Fisch and Dillon Tucker, "Uneasy Lies the Mind" was directed and produced by Ricky Fosheim. "We look forward to introducing our film to an audience and hope that we inspire other filmmakers to use the iPhone camera in order to push the ways in which we tell stories. The most important question that filmmakers need to ask themselves when shooting with alternative cameras isn't “how do I do this?” but rather “why am I doing this?” said Fosheim. 4. Angel's Perch: Gravitas Ventures has acquired worldwide rights to the Alzheimer’s drama "Angel's Perch," an independent film which was funded via Kickstarter and distributed in an entirely DIY-orchestrated theatrical release this summer via Tugg.com. Directed by Charles Haine, the film will be available cable VOD platforms serving over 100 million homes and on digital platforms December 1, and will continue its theatrical campaign via Tugg.com.
